Monmouth U9s Girls Host 7 teams.

This week it was Monmouth Town's turn to put on a friendly tournament with 6 other teams coming from across South-West Wales to play our girls.

The girls continue to grow into a formidable team. Their desire for the ball very clear in their games. Easy wins in 3 of their games and their first defeat of the season.

This week we played a team we haven't met before and they were very strong players who passed and played the ball very well. While the girls looked stunned that they could actually lose a game I think it will be hugely beneficial for them as we start to impress the importance of positions and teamwork.
Player of the match was Isla today and she played brilliantly running back to tackle and making fantastic runs from midfield and scoring.

Special mention goes to Gracie who stood up to be the goal-keeper in one of the matches. It was her first go in goal and she did an amazing job.

All in all, it was a fantastic day of football and the girls got put through their paces.

Special thanks go to the Mums that spent all their time serving food and drinks while the games went on. We will be looking for additional volunteers going forward as well as help packing up. At the end of the game the putting away of all three pitches was done only by a number of individuals - they had been there to set up at 8 am.
